I am so far behind on my f'lists right now. So, my apologies to everyone. I may have difficulty keeping up over the next few weeks, so please don't think I'm ignoring you guys, it's just between work and getting ready to move and spending time with family before I leave, there's not a whole lot of time for blogging.

More details on the St Louis trip!

I'd left town Saturday morning, pretty much right after work. Which was not a pleasant drive. Ikh. The barbecue we went to Saturday was a lot of fun. Their friends seem pretty nice. :-) I definitely feel very optimistic about the move. I'm still a bit anxious, but I know it's just my general fear of change. This is a big change, after all! We had some nice conversations, too. It's a bit of a change from online friend to offline, but they all seem like great people, so I'm sure we'll get along just swell ^_^ We certainly got along pretty good for the weekend I was there! It was nice getting to finally meet [insanejournal.com profile] chloekittn75 in person, and getting to meet [livejournal.com profile] amazonianwitch and [livejournal.com profile] agent_alpo for more than just a brief visit.

On Sunday, after Pride, we returned home and hung out. We watched the Goonies, which neither I nor Amy had ever seen. I treated them to pizza as a thank-you for letting me stay. When the pizza arrived, I paid for it, still dressed en femme, which was a bit of a confidence-builder, as that was a situation outside of a defined LGBT-friendly environment.

Anyways, Monday I went apartment-hunting. I'd already picked out a number of potential places online, and wanted to check them out in person before signing up. The first place I went to was in a bit of a run-down neighborhood. Not a bad neighborhood per se, I don't think, but a bit run-down. The second place was in a great area, wonderful apartment, 625 square feet with a nice balcony. I immediately felt a strong positive feeling for it, but I wanted to look at other places, too, in case those were better. I ended up going with that second place I looked at. I'm glad I looked at the other places, though, cause I would've wondered about them if I hadn't. Some of the other places were pretty nice, too, but the place I ended up with was just a bit nicer than most of them. There was one that was as nice, maybe even a little nicer, and about the same rent, but it was less convenient to where I'll be working. The place I went with is just 3.8 miles away - a 6-minute drive! The other place was something like a half-hour drive. So, even though I ended up driving around to a lot of places that I ended up not going with, I'm glad that I did.

I'm currently visiting my friends Katie ([livejournal.com profile] amazonianwitch), Allison ([livejournal.com profile] agent_alpo) and Amy ([insanejournal.com profile] chloekittn75) in the St Louis area, going to be looking at potential apartments tomorrow.

I got into town yesterday afternoon around 4-ish. Katie and Amy were here to meet me. We hung out for a while before heading out to a pre-Pridefest barbecue with some friends of theirs. We met up with Allison at this LGBT bar called Mokabe's. I went out dressed en femme. My very first time going out publicly in female clothing. :-D I was a bit nervous at first. I've never been dressed en femme around other people, much less in a public setting. That day, I wore this dress that looks like a combination of a tank top and a skirt that reaches down to about mid-calf, but is actually a single piece. I rather like how it looks and feels. ^_^ After Mokabe's, we went to the barbecue itself. Although I was a bit nervous at first, I soon got comfortable. It felt very nice being dressed en femme around other people without anyone giving me a hard time or anything like that. Just being dressed en femme feels very nice, makes me much happier and more confident, and it's a big ego boost to have people accepting me! Their friends were rather interesting. :-) Very nice. ^_^ It feels very liberating to have people accepting without hesitation when I'm introduced with female pronouns and name.

Then today, we went to the St Louis Pridefest. My very first Pridefest! And, again, I went dressed en femme. This time in a cute denim skirt and a pink top. Pride was a lot of fun! And, again, very liberating to be walking around in girl clothes without anyone giving me so much as a second look! The parade was pretty cool, and there were some neat stuff in the booths that were set up. I'm not looking forward to going back to boy clothes. :-( Ah, well. Just a few more weeks till I move, then I'll be able to dress more often. ^_^

I rather like the feel of a skirt, although I'm still not quite used to the feeling of air on my upper legs. ^_^ It's a nice feel, though.

I did end up with a sunburn, though. :-( I'm burned on my upper arms and my nose and cheeks. The top I was wearing has almost no sleeves, and the upper part of my arms is ultra-white - I have a major farmer's tan, since I spend a fair amount of time outside in ordinary male t-shirts, so my lower arms are fairly well-tanned, and thus, were unburned. So, my arms are tricolored! White on the parts that were still covered by my top, red on most of the upper arm, and tan on the lower part.
